South Dakota Lake Thompson Fishing Report – August 12-14

Lake Thompson Fishing Report

August 12-14, I had the pleasure guiding Mr. John Sparrgrove and his son, Travis on Lake Thompson while family members enjoyed the sites of Laura Ingalls Wilder, in DeSmet, South Dakota.

Lake Thompson Fishing Report - August 13

We had around 15 mph winds out of the northwest. We pulled spinners over humps that ran a mile long, pulling spinners/minnows in depths ranging from 12' to 16'. I came across this pike in 12' of water with a plain hook and a crawler.

August 12 was a short day, as hail and north winds pushed us off the lake by 11:30 a.m.

Fishing in northwest winds. Plain hook and minnows caught these crappie and bass before we had to get off the lake.
