2016 Fall Fishing Bite
I've only had a few outings in the last couple months due to my other side business, ABA Welding, taking off. I've been finding fish on the east, southeast side of Lake Thompson, on or near the humps or around a treeline. In 10'-16' I've been finding walleye and perch. In the fall, I like to keep it simple, presenting a 1/4-1/2 oz. bottom bouncer, with a plain hook and minnow or crawler. Other lakes that I've heard are doing well are Poinsett, Dry, Brush and my cousin David Adams has been hitting walleye on submerged roads on Bitter Lake. Lake Sharpe is doing well on the bluffs, up to the Fort Pierre bridge. Plain hooks and jigs, tipped with a minnow. Here are a few pics of my last few outings within the last 3 weeks.
- My wife Kia and I went up to Thompson for the afternoon – got 4 hours in and found these nice keepers. Had a great dinner at the Oldham Saloon.
- Caught this nice 16-incher fishing a ledge of a stock dam.
- Brian Carlson and I, the other weekend, fished the southeast end of Lake Thompson. He hit a few on spinners and I hit a few on plain hook with minnow and crawler.
- A nice jumbo perch Brian brought in. Crawler in 12′ of water.
- Lake Thompson walleye
- Just takin’ it easy
- Kenny Glanzer and friend from the Onida area, came east to fish Lake Thompson for a day and they did very well. Way to go, Kenny.
- Veterans Fishing Day with Keith Michaels and Dave Keller – very cold day
