SD Walleye Fishing Report Lake Sharpe (West Bend) May 6-7, 2016

May 7 SD Walleye Fishing Report

Kenny Glanzer from SD joined Chuck and I at West Bend on our second day. We missed many in the process, coming in with one short of our limit. A very light bite, again the bite will only get better. I still have available dates.

Chuck Jansen from MN and I fished West Bend on Lake Sharpe (Missouri River system). It was a great spawn bite. We missed many opportunities to fill our limit, while releasing under 15 inches and catching and releasing some bass. We landed one 19" female and the males were milking. Minnows and crawlers in 9'-14' of water, presenting jigs. The bite will only get better!

West Bend landing and state park and campground are top notch. Great scenic views - the boat landing is in a cove - protected by all winds!

Oahe should be taking off soon. Areas to fish this time of year on oahe - way back in the Cheyenne River that feeds Oahe, Mobridge area and Whitlock's area up by Gettysburg, SD.

I'm back on Lake Thompson May 13-14, granted the weather doesn't say otherwise.
